sw prothro Writer | Educator | Founder

sw prothro is a multidisciplinary storyteller and educator whose work lives at the intersection of art, identity, and social truth. With a background spanning creative writing, performance, and education, prothro creates stories that challenge silence and illuminate resilience.

A graduate of SUNY Old Westbury with a B.A. in Multicultural English and a master’s in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies from SUNY University at Buffalo, prothro brings a deep understanding of narrative, equity, and culture to every project. Their academic lens sharpens their creative work each story layered with historical awareness, social realism, and emotional grit.

As a Learning Specialist at a K–8 charter school, prothro teaches core subjects with a passion for math and history, drawing connections between the lessons in the classroom and the struggles of real life. Their experience teaching special needs students and leading intervention programs in reading and mathematics grounds their work in compassion and community.

Through SWP Artists LLC, prothro continues to write and produce projects that blend artistry with advocacy from Tyler, a raw coming-of-age narrative novella, to The Good Doctor, a satirical short story and She Got It, a short film ode to Black women, each piece pushes audiences to reflect, reckon, and reimagine what survival looks like.

For prothro, storytelling is both resistance and restoration a way to give voice to the lived, the overlooked, and the enduring.
